1. Why Acidic Foods Pose a Unique Delamination Challenge

Modern multi-layer lamination structures typically consist of an outer print layer, a barrier layer (like aluminum foil or metallized film), and a heat-seal layer (CPP/PE). Acidic contents, with their low pH levels and chemically active profiles, pose distinct risks:

  • Chemical Corrosion and Penetration: Low pH substances can penetrate micro-gaps in the seals, attacking the adhesive layer. If the adhesive lacks superior chemical resistance, its molecular chain degrades, causing bond strength to plummet.
  • Coefficient of Thermal Expansion Mismatch: During processes like retort sterilization, the difference in thermal expansion between the acidic contents and the film layers creates internal stress. This stress often manifests as micro-cracks at the lamination interface, allowing acidic fluids to seep in and accelerate delamination.

Substrate surface tension is the foundation of lamination quality. We employ advanced corona treatment to maintain a constant surface tension of over 38 mN/m. This ensures optimal “wetting” of the adhesive across the substrate, eliminating micro-voids and structurally preventing potential peel points.

C. Parametric Curing Management

Delamination is often a symptom of improper curing cycles. Our films undergo a 48–72 hour maturation process within a controlled-temperature environment (45°C–50°C). This ensures the adhesive molecules are fully cross-linked and internal stresses are eliminated, guaranteeing maximum bond strength throughout the product’s shelf life.
